Fashionista Friday: Jessica’s Vintage Wedding Plates

vintage wedding plates from Goodwill Planning a wedding isn’t easy. Doing so when you’ve just dealt with the government shutdown? Even harder. So this week, I’m admiring Jessica’s creativity in the face of budget adversity.

On her blog Adventures of the Repatriate, Jessica recently shared beautiful images of a brunch celebration she hosted at her home. She explained that she counts brunch as a luxury—and when the budget doesn’t allow for it, brunches at lush local restaurants have to take a backseat. But that doesn’t mean that festive gatherings with friends have to be abandoned!

Jessica’s been collecting vintage tableware for her wedding, and revealed her finds at a low-key, homemade brunch for friends. Is there a better way to get more use out of wedding gear? I think not. Everyone loves brunch. Brunch tastes better on inexpensive plates, and sipped out of Goodwill champagne coupes. That’s right! Many of Jessica’s vintage pieces came from local Goodwill stores.

My favorite part of this brunch soiree? The Repatriate puts it best: “We spent over four hours eating, drinking, and exchanging ideas on life.  This lovely afternoon also reminded me that we don’t need fancy restaurants and overpriced tableware to share an amazing, inspired afternoon.”

Jessica, we’re so glad you’re including Goodwill finds as you plan your festivities. Thanks for supporting Goodwill!
